Er, I in no way resemble that remark Lauren. 🙂

Building a company means that you have absolute freedom (to a degree obviously) but if you are “meant” to work for yourself the feeling of freedom, the desire to push the envelope is truly an exhilarating feeling!

I agree with all the point mentioned above and i would like to add one thing more
Owning and running your own business can be more satisfying and fulfilling than working for someone else.

Well, you COULD just not come into work tomorrow, but it’d be a pretty bad idea…

Anyways I’d just add that when you own the business, not coming into work probably isn’t usually a problem. You might even be excited to go into work every day 😉

Biglaw, good points.

Regarding the freedom thing, though, I just think that if you or I own a business (and then employ people and have contractual commitments to customers and vendors like landlords) that we can’t just not come into work tomorrow.

Nevertheless, I think small business ownership is, overall, a very freeing experience and arrangement.

I’m surprised you said that owning your own business means you “lose freedom” since you can’t quit if you don’t like the job. I think a lot of small business owners might disagree with that statement about feeling less free working for themselves!
