As a fellow CPA and long-time Boglehead reader, I particularly agree with #4 and #5. As it relates to #4, I get the impression that the forum is much quicker to recommend that a person retain legal counsel in a legal situation than they are to recommend a person obtain a CPA in a tax situation. I guess we get no respect! As it relates to #5, there seems to be a slight bias against small business ownership. As you’ve alluded to in previous posts, small business ownership can achieve 2 things: 1) equity in business that can be sold at a later time, 2) prolong your retirement date by working on your own terms & pace when no other companies want you.
